Welcome to my home page. It's nothing special; just a collection of geek stuff, documents, computer programming projects and various tidbits that make up my life ;-). Feel free to use and refer the resources available here as you want.

About me

I was born in São Gabriel, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil , and currently live in Porto Alegre. As you can see on this site contents, computers are what I like to do, even more when they run open-source software. Apart from computers, I love music, movies, historical and fantasy literature, gadgets, electronics and martial arts (I have trained Karate and Taekwondo, and now I'm doing Muay Thai).

I am graduated in Computer Science at Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), getting my BSc degree in 2005. I was part of the Computer Science Laboratory (LSC) at UFSM for 3 years. I also had a short internship at the Laboratory for Software and Hardware Integration (LISHA), at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).

I obtained my Master's degree in Computer Science at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), in 2009. The thesis was about dynamic scheduling in MPI programs using process migration. At UFRGS, I was also a member of the Group of Parallel and Distributed Processing (GPPD).

Now, I am pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). I am a member of the High Performance Laboratory (LAD) at PUCRS. My current research subject is parallel and distributed data mining. If you want to know more about what I did in these places, check out the research section of this home page.

In my free time, I work as a software engineer at Digitel S.A. Indústria Eletrônica, a company in the data transmission segment within the Brazilian and Latin American telecommunications market. At Digitel, I work designing and developing software for embedded systems (for example, adapting linux kernel for new PowerPC-based equipment, writing device drivers and programs for embedded systems, etc.).
